People Director – Grow a Major Fintech brand from 50 – 150 in 18 months

A People Director is required for a high-profile late-stage FinTech start-up in the Broker-to-Business lending platform sector. The People Director will help them scale from 50 to 150 people over the next 18 months (with growth to 250 people over the next 3-5 years), grow policies, develop processes and systems that are there but need tailoring and threading into the business.


Location – London, SE1

Salary – £80k – £90k + bonus, equity, personal training budget and entertainment accounts.


This FinTech has won government approval for lending services, won multiple awards and sits at the top of the tree around their part of the industry. With some jaw-dropping calibre execs and non-execs, their potential is already bearing major fruit. This People Director will provide the fuel to those execs with a pragmatic hiring and HR strategy that will be worthy of their ambition. Team is currently 2 with appetite for a team of <5.


A word on how you’ll succeed there:

Building a culture of hiring excellence. This includes for each single person who interviews to walk away wanting the job. They want them walking away feeling it was efficient, effective, it was on time, questions were relevant & they were treated in line with the company’s values.

You’ll work closely with hiring managers determining compensation, job title and any other details to offers.

Establish clear Performance Management framework cadence and processes company wide, whilst being personalised to divisional and individual role needs.

Although you’ll be focused on helping build a cohesive team with a common sense of purpose & mission, with shared outlooks on what is important within the confines and context of the business, ethnic and gender diversity will also feature in your strategy.

You’ll also be expected to drive how they embed their company values and culture into the hiring & onboarding process and across the business.

You will run their internal comms strategy – specifically around how they run Weekly Wash-ups, monthly All-Hands & Quarterly Town Halls. Their goal is to ensure that all employees are consistently well-informed of key developments within the business and the focus moving forward. Ideally, you’ll ensure comms flows both up and down within the business.

Comms and delivery of programmes around training and coaching to managers as required

People Metrics, they are looking at everything from recruitment metrics, to employee engagement, to diversity.

Clear demonstrable exp of building an online talent attraction advertising strategy as well as employee branding

Own the organisational structure, this includes ensuring we’re constantly future-proofing their org design from the ‘As Is’ to the ‘To Be’.

Budgeting and planning with the finance and people team.



You will have previous People-based experience, ideally within a fast growing start up. Prior experience of managing teams of up to 5 people would be highly beneficial, especially with experience of leading candidate sourcers, recruiters, researchers & recruitment marketeers.

Proven ability to hire - you’ll be building out a chunk of their skeleton. Someone who can hire well and motivate people within their functions.

Strong communication skills - you are expected to form a core part of the Exec team and in doing so will require an ability to consistently get others on board with team changes, promotions, road maps, goals.

Ideally prior experience in areas such as talent development, organization design and scaling up of organisations.

Have developed learning and development frameworks for high growth organisations. Help achieve a balanced diversity of brilliance across the business, that doesn’t include just gender, but ethnicity, age, sexuality

Have proven experience of working with Leadership teams.

Prior experience of owning the compensation strategy across the business

Have a track record in coaching business leaders.

Proven track record in compensation planning & design

Superb analytical skills
