The Head of Development (.Net) for a Global Fintech is required to lead and inspire a team of 40 .Net Developer and QA specialists. You’ll own and improve a culture of ownership and excellence that is needed to help this team with its output performance. You’ll own a raft of products that provide £150bn of transactions and requires increased release rates and quality.

Location: London, City

Salary: circa £90k – £115k + Bonus + benefits

You will be responsible for the teams output, with a strong technical pedigree in the latest .Net stacks in order to support the seniors where necessary. You’ll be helping the team to develop a brand new, high-transactional platform executing £bns in transactions using a stack around C#, .Net, Javascript (Moving to React.js or Angular shortly, tbc) and SQL Server. As Head of Development, you’ll be helping the team to continue to modernise the .Net stack (currently all is done in .Net Core, Angular 7.0, Kafka Streams, AWS), in conjunction with the CTO, and also have an appetite for change to the product architecture.

These are mostly on-shore but a growing off-shore team too. You’ll spear-head and improve a culture of ownership and excellence that is needed to help this team with its output performance. You’ll own development output for a raft of products that provide £150bn of transactions and requires increased release rates and quality.

The Head of Development projects currently include the highly complex main platform build, development of fintech solutions around the main build, some major legacy work to reduce technical debt and improve performance, and infusing a quality ethic into the developers’ work, including strong TDD principles.

Essentials:

A Head of Development with strong .Net pedigree – should be prepared to be involved hands-on at points. This is for an established Head of Development who is close to the latest .Net technology, and does not need to lean heavily on Architects. Managed at least 15 Developers previously, ideally as well.

Healthy updated skills and a coding history in .Net – able to galvanise the Senior Developers and motivate from the front. You’ll be involved in detailed technical discussions and can’t be left behind.

A good Quality ethic and able to motivate QA.

Good Agile roots; able to bend the rules where appropriate to fit the business’ objectives but an advocate of clean, tested code to exceptional standards.

Transactional systems experience – highly advantageous

Experience with Java development in a similar vein to your .Net knowledge

A Head of Development who is passionate about keeping themselves close to the technology but able to develop a platform product with well-drilled Developers, given ownership and responsibility to do more.

This Head of Development role has all the aspects of change, new build projects, high complexity transactional systems and leadership / mentorship. Its ideal for a proven Head of Development from a .Net background who still has a strong technical edge to them.
